LUMA Organization’s Visionary Savings and Lively Advancement (VSLA) program is a transformative initiative designed to empower individuals in Kenya and Tanzania, with a focus on vulnerable populations such as women, children, and sex workers. Through this groundbreaking program, LUMA Organization uplifts marginalized members of society by providing them with financial resources and guidance to cultivate sustainable economic opportunities.

The VSLA program operates through the innovative LUMA Wallet, a financial tool meticulously crafted by the organization. This digital wallet not only disburses financial aid but also plays a pivotal role in fostering financial literacy and entrepreneurship among its beneficiaries. As recipients receive funds through the LUMA Wallet, the organization further supports them by assisting in formulating comprehensive business plans, ensuring that allocated resources are used effectively for long-term success.

The program’s primary focus is on individuals engaged in sex work, women living with HIV, and single parents, all of whom face unique economic challenges. By strategically targeting these groups, LUMA Organization aims to address the root causes of economic vulnerability and empower individuals to break free from cycles of poverty.
In Tanzania, the VSLA program has a strong presence with 166 active members and a leadership team of 5 individuals. Similarly, in Kenya, the program includes 175 members, guided by 5 leaders committed to steering the initiative toward meaningful impact.
Beyond financial assistance, the VSLA program emphasizes education and mentorship. For students among the beneficiaries, LUMA Organization goes the extra mile by providing guidance to shape their educational and professional trajectories.
